In the wake of the murder of Harris County Deputy Darren Goforth in Houston, Texas, it is becoming more clear that the temperature of violence is on the rise.
The surge in homicides across the United States has criminologists and police officers searching for an explanation. The USA Today graph from July 2015 demonstrates the upward trend among major cities.
The uptick in violence has uniformed officers concerned for the safety of citizens, as well as their fellow brethren in blue. Analysts debate what effect divisive comments from leaders have on the perception of American public towards police.
The recent violence against officers, 7 killed in the last 10 days, can be attributed to a growing new mentality as groups like Black Lives Matter atrociously chant, “Pigs in a blanket, fry ’em like bacon”.
